The story of Jacob’s sons, Judah, and Joseph is another beautiful foretelling of the gospel of Christ. Joseph, more than any othere character in the Bible is a type of Jesus. He was the beloved son of the father, rejected by family, sold out, falsely accused; delivered to death and rose out of it. Judah sold Joseph, Judas sold Jesus. The gospel is clearly demonstrated in the way that, so many years later, Joseph orchestrates the circumstances with his brothers to bring Judah to the point of conviction and confession (Is Jesus pursuing you?). When Judah confesses to Joseph, offering himself for his brothers, there is only love poured out on him by Joseph. And Jacob, the father who was so grieved by the selling of his beloved son, can only see Judah as righteous because he confessed to the son.
