Whether someone is lost, carnal or apostate, some need compassion and some need fear to be set right. Most need both, but at different times. It’s important to know the difference, to make a difference. A good shepherd has both a rod and a staff. There’s a balance needed but it’s usually best to start with compassion. Compassion is well defined as, love in action. We can say we have a love for the lost members of our family, but until we act on that love, it’s not compassion. Paul saw everyone as souls that were either saved or bound for hell (worth fearing!). But what drove him was compassion for lost souls. What drives us?
