Jesus is the Truth. The Word is the Truth. Receiving Jesus and His Word produces the new birth. Jesus and His Word are inseparable. In John 6, we’re told about 3 groups: Leavers, Believers and Deceivers. Jesus knew many of the unbelievers would leave. We won’t know who they are. Like the wheat and the tares, only Jesus will know and will separate them out at the end. Unbelievers will follow Him because their focus is on the temporal, or physical blessings rather than spiritual. Jesus knew believers could become leavers when His sayings seemed “hard.” Yet this “hard preaching” is simply the truth and why Jesus warned us to count the cost. We must choose to leave or cleave. Unfortunately, deceivers aren’t leavers and in the last days there will be many more.
