It’s possible to understand the invisible things about God and faith by the visible, natural things we can see. The youngest generations are out of touch with natural things because screens have captured their attentions. Jesus uses an example that all would have understood in his time, that of a husbandman tending a vine. “And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, And the branch that thou madest strong for thyself. It is burned with fire, it is cut down” (Psalm 80: 15-16). At this point in His ministry, he is explaining to the disciples the big picture. Israel is the vine that is burned and replaced with the true vine. “I am the true vine and my father is the husbandman” (John 15:1) . Jesus is the vine and these eleven disciples are the branches. We gentiles are the wild vine that is grafted in (the Church). Eventually the natural vine, Israel will be grafted together, with us in Christ. Branches can only produce fruit when they are connected to the life of the vine (Jesus). The best tool that Satan has is a man who claims to be a Christian that lives without fruit and in sin.
