Just because a person goes to church doesn’t mean they’re not part of the world. Attending a church doesn’t equate with being saved. And sadly, there are many churches that are part of the world, flying rainbow flags, ordaining women and fostering apostate doctrines. They claim to know Jesus but it’s ‘another Jesus,’ “because they have not known the Father nor me” (John 16:3). The truth offends. Jesus told the disciples that when He left them, He would send the Comforter; meaning His Spirit would come to comfort them in His absence. But His Spirit would not comfort the world. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and it offends and convicts the lost world of sin. When we withhold the truth from people in an effort to ‘get along,’ we rob them of the truth that can set them free. Without the convicting power of the Holy Spirit a sinner can’t be saved.
