11/23/2025PM Where Do You Stand?

Peter was confident in how strong his love for Jesus was but he didn’t understand his weakness. It’s one thing to be where you’re supposed to be, it’s another to be where you’re not supposed to be. The night Jesus was arrested in the garden, Judas stood with those who came to arrest Him. And Peter, who had hours earlier sworn he would die for Jesus, tried to take off Malchus’ head when they took Jesus. But then at Annas house as John stood with Jesus, Peter stood without and then sits around a fire with the captors. In that moment, Peter wasn’t willing to bear the association with Jesus. They questioned Peter because of who he was with, his passion and how he spoke. Who do we associate with? What are we passionate about? And what is our speech like? What about when Jesus’ name is disrespected? When we are offered filth? When someone twists the Bible? Jesus was on trial but so was Peter. We too, are constantly on trial by the world.
