God has given different dispensations of His grace over different periods of time. Dispensations can be generally divided by time periods but they don’t represent time. They are differentiated by the covenants God instituted with individuals, families or nations. For instance, there are the Adamic, Noahic, Abramic, Mosaic and Davidic Covenants. Those are the covenants found in the Old Testament. The next covenant is the New Testament, instituted by Jesus at the Lord’s Supper and put into effect at His death on Calvary. There is at least one dispensation (covenant) yet to come that God makes with man in Revelation chapters 21 and 22. Some covenants continue even today while some, like Moses’ covenant ended at Calvary but no one knows about it until well into the book of Acts.
