Salvation is a free gift but discipleship has a cost. The cost is in the form of denial of self, my will, my desires—telling the old man NO! The Christianity that is preached in most churches in America today is, “How to serve God without it costing.” We want the blessings of Christ without the cost. Jesus willingly took the cup of suffering and death for us. What is our reasonable service? What should we be willing to give the King who gave it all?
