What rules is what people think is right (in their own eyes), not what God says. There are many grievous sins that in this world, even in our country that are perfectly legal. There is a consistent pattern in the Bible of God’s people sinning, sufferring, repenting, receiving God’s mercy and blessings and then returning to sin and wash, rinse, repeat. Or mor accurately, Sin, Servitude, Supplication. Israel needed a strong man to lead them before they had a King. The church needs strong men to lead. Like a preacher who leads with the truth of God’s Word. But what began as victories for Israel became compromise. If we don’t fight against sin, we’ll end up fighting our pastor, our church our family, the wrong enemy and the wrong fight.
