The first and second commandments are simple and clear. Because the Israelites did not eradicate the Canaanites from the land, their people, cultures and religions turned away the hearts of the Jews to the point that they perverted the truth beyond recognition. Micah creates his own tabernacle in his house and hires his own priest, but not a priest, a hireling. This story is an uncanny parallel with so many churches in America, led by hirelings whose job it is to tell people what makes them feel good about themselves, instead of a shepherd who preaches Bible truth; the kind that convicts and draws us closer to God and away from our flesh.
