Just before Samuel took over as Judge of Israel, Eli fell over dead after learning that his perverse sons had been killed. His daughter-in-law named her son “Ichabod,” meaning, the glory of the Lord has departed. Just like with Eli and his sons, time, temptation, and corruption can rob our homes and churches of the glory of the Lord. We all have free will but you can’t customize your conscience. Eli placed his sons above his own righteousness. He, and the people of Israel chose comfortable living above holy living. How many parents today choose comfortable living like Eli. What will become of your children. You can’t just fetch God when your life, or theirs, goes bad.
