Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. (2 Corinthians 13:5)
When Jesus examined Peter (John 21: 15-17), He didn’t ask about his courage, his faithfulness or boldness. He focused on Peter’s love for Jesus. We would do well to inquire of ourselves on that very matter. Jesus knows, but He wants us to know. Because when we struggle in our Christian walk it’s because we don’t love Him as we ought. The greatest commandment is about what we do, not what we don’t do. Do we do what we do out of works, or love? Love is a decision; a choice. Love is under our control.
