Each time Pharaoh relented and God took away a plague, Pharaoh hardened his heart. When Pharaoh saw that the rain, hail and thunder ceased, he sinned yet more. We know that whom the Lord loveth, He chasteneth. If we’re honest, how many times have we, like Pharaoh, mistaken God’s mercy for God’s acceptance? It’s vital that we judge ourselves and agree with God, or we risk straining God’s mercy.
