02/23/2025AM Jonah: When God’s People Won’t Go

God wanted Jonah to go to Nineveh. Instead he found a ship headed to Tarshish (the opposite direction). We don’t need a sign when we have a verse. Jonah had God’s word but the world provided a ship. The book of Jonah is about what God wanted to do with Jonah. Our life is about what God wants to do with us. The men on the ship knew Jonah was a man of God but they recognized he wasn’t acting like a man of God. How do the lost see us? Do we profess Christ but live like the world? Do the lost expect a higher standard from us than we do? The lost sailors were asking questions, seeking answers, but Jonah the man of God was asleep. They cared more about saving Jonah than Jonah did about saving them! Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. (1 Corinthians 15:34).
