03/25/2026WED Standing and State (Rightly Dividing)

If you are born again, your “Standing” is an eternal position based on how God sees you judicially; you’re “in Christ.” Your standing is based on Christ’s finished work. Your “State” is a temporary condition. It’s variable. It can change from thought to thought, from behavior to behavior. Your state is how man sees you (in Adam). Our standing is what God did for me. Our state is what God wants to do through me (sanctification). We tend to depend on our standing and excuse our state. When we are one day glorified our standing and our state will be unified forever. We will be as Christ was when he walked the earth. Our imputed righteousness and our personal righteousness will be the same.
