The devil used precepts from scripture (partial or whole verses) to tempt Jesus but Jesus used Biblical principles to shut him down. The modern church majors on Biblical precepts, not principles. This lets them use scripture to excuse carnality. Principles trump temptations. There is a principle that answers every temptation but we are living in the days of, “give me a verse.” Carnal brothers and sisters will ask for a verse, knowing it was not explicitly covered in the Bible, assuming that which is not prohibited is allowed. While all the while there are obvious Biblical principles that cover such carnality. If you can’t pray and ask God to bless what it is you want to do—then you’re wrong. Why would you want to flirt with, and live on the edge of Holiness and evil?
