Midianites are descended from Ishmael, who was a product of the flesh. Ishmael was put out because Isaac was a child of the spirit and flesh has nothing to do with spirit. Katura bore Isaac (Midian). Abraham gave all to Isaac. The Midianites were merchants and the ones who bought Joseph to resell him. Thus the Midianites robbed the fruits from Israel. When Israel did not obey God and wipe out the Midianites, they didn’t understand how they (the flesh) would grow to overwhelm Israel (spirit). A very helpful message on fighting your flesh.
