Seven times in the gospel of John, Jesus makes an “I am” claim: The Bread of life. The Light of the world. The Door of the sheep. The Good Shepherd. The Resurrection and the Life. The Way and the Truth and the Life. The True Vine. Each of these should have been recognized by the scribes and Pharisees because of their knowledge of the Scriptures. But they could not accept him any more than they did his Father. The sin of unbelief is the only sin that will leave you in hell. Believing and trusting that Jesus is your payment for sin will save you from hell. There are only two ways to die, in sin or in Christ. It depends not on what you do, but what you believe. What do you believe about who He is?
