09/17/2025WED Rejecting Their King

Every time Jesus performed a miracle, it caused division among the people. Some believed, some scoffed. The Jewish leaders wanted him dead because he threatened their religious hierarchy, privilege, power and wealth. How much better for them would it have been if they had welcomed their King! They would have enjoyed a thousand years in the Kingdom of God on earth under Christ’s reign, rather than Rome! But they rejected their King. Caiaphas, the high priest said, “it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.” In a supreme irony, he plotted Jesus death to keep their selfish hold on the reigns of power but unwittingly spoke the gospel! This echoes what Joseph told his brothers, “ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good,”
