When David tried to transport the Ark of God back to Jerusalem he was deceived by his carnal affinities. He was also influenced by the crowd’s approval. We all have them, areas where the flesh still has a hold on us, and we can usually depend on the approval of the world. David had become comfortable in Philistia. Although God had very specific requirements for transporting the Ark, David chose a cart, like the Philistines. David was a good and Godly man but his carnal affinities messed him up. We can’t afford to be casual about carnal affinities because God loves us and he corrects those He loves.
