When Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, He demonstrated an act of service. Notice that it was done in a home, ot a church or temple. He instructed them to do “as” He had done, meaning we are to serve and minister to the brethren. There is also a picture in it of what Jesus has done for us, taking our dirt of of us and putting it on Him. He also demonstrated the HUMILITY we need to have.At a time when the disciples argued over who was the greates, humility needs no recognition and rejoices when others receive praise.
