When Jesus told His disciples He would be leaving them, He took great care to reassure and encourage them; but after all this time spent with the Lord they were almost completely at a loss to understand. They had been thinking that Jesus was come to set up HIs Kingdom on earth (the physical Kingdom of Heaven promised to the Jews), that He was leaving made no sense. But He tells them there’s a new plan (heaven) that He will go to prepare a place for them, that they will be with Him and the Father but they ask questions that show they think the place is on earth. They ask Him how they’ll know the way and he answers that HE is the way. Everything that troubles us is something here. Everything that really matters is in heaven. Unbelievers have every reason for their hearts to be troubled! But let not your heart be troubled because you believe in Him.
