Before Jesus was crucified, Peter made dramatic promises to Jesus that he would never deny Him, that he would even die for Him. But fear got the best of Peter and he was grieved at his failure. And after Jesus was risen from the dead, Peter went right back to his former occupation, even though he had “left all” to follow Jesus. When Jesus appeared and spoke to Peter on shore, he asked Peter the fundamental question, “Do your love me?” He asked Him 3 times, the same, and as Peter stared into the coals of the fire Jesus made, he was grieved again.
