The Jewish leaders had a problem. Jesus was a threat to their corrupt hold on power. Their entire religious system, hierarchy and traditions that had replaced God’s laws was counterfeit. But they needed a “legal” way to put to death a man who had never sinned. Far from finding one, there are at least 14 different ways their arrest, trials, testimonies and witnesses were a sham. Jesus was tried before Annas, Caiaphas, Pilate, Herod, back to Pilate and ultimately before the Jewish people. They couldn’t find Him guilty of anything he’d done so they had to accuse what he’d said. The world is still angered by what Jesus said. When a preacher tells them, they still hate His words. As it was two thousand years ago, it is still today—when Jesus is presented to someone, they have to make a decision and no decision is a ‘no’ decision. That decision will define your life, and your eternity.
