The Passover lamb needed to be inspected to be sure that it was without spot or blemish (representing sin). Jesus was put on trial before Pilate, then by Herod and then again by Pilate but they could find no fault in Him. Jesus told Pilot his kingdom was not of this world because it was a spiritual kingdom; the Kingdom of God, which God withdrew from the world when Adam sinned. Adam lost the both crowns, for the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God. With Jesus, the “second Adam,” the Kingdom of Heaven was also at hand. John the Baptist preached, repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand (Jesus). If the Jews had accepted Jesus as the Messiah that physical Kingdom would have started a thousand years of Jesus’ reign. But as they rejected Jesus, the Kingdom of Heaven was put on hold until Jesus 2nd coming. At his death and resurrection, the Kingdom of God returns and ushers in the Church age.
